APOCALYPTICA Attains Career Milestone With Radio Chart-Topper
November 19, 2008Finland's masters of hard rock cello APOCALYPTICA attain another career milestone this week with a radio chart-topper. Their latest single, "I Don't Care", featuring Adam Gontier of THREE DAYS GRACE, has landed at #1 on the BDS and Mediabase Active Rock radio charts. The fact that they have supplanted METALLICA at the chart summit is somewhat ironic considering APOCALYPTICA's roots as re-interpreters of the seminal metal band's work.
APOCALYPTICA's sixth album and first for 2020/Jive Records, "Worlds Collide", has sold 131,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The first single from the album, which cracked the top 10 of both the Active Rock and Alternative charts, as well as receiving a good deal of video airplay, was "I'm Not Jesus", featuring Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT. "I Don't Care", the album's second single, has not only hit #1 on the Active Rock charts but is also #3 Alternative and has received extensive video play on MTV2, Fuse, and Music Choice. The album also features guest appearances from Cristina Scabbia of LACUNA COIL, Till Lindemann of RAMMSTEIN, and Dave Lombardo of SLAYER.
In support of "Worlds Collide", APOCALYPTICA has been touring the USA extensively as a headliner as well as making memorable appearances at radio festivals and a historic main stage performance at this year's Ozzfest. The band also recently made is U.S. television debut with a live performance on NBC's "Last Call With Carson Daly" (see video below).
